Kindergarten - Personal Practices I

Kindergarten

1st Grade - Personal Practices II

As first graders begin to feel older and more accustomed to school settings, they are no longer the youngest students in the school and are fully immersed in various interactions with themselves and others.  During the year students focus on the following objectives;

  • The goal of yoga is to be peaceful
  • Breathing with awareness can help us remain peaceful
  • Studying what we like and dislike can help us understand ourselves
  • We are all capable and powerful beings
  • We can practice trusting our own greatness

2nd Grade - Social Ethics

Second graders are independent and have the self-awareness to begin navigating problems and situations on their own. Second grade lessons focus on students developing a sense of individual and social ethics that help to create peaceful connections.  This year, students focus on the following objectives;

  • Kindness can be extended to ourselves, others and to the environment
  • Truthfulness means living life with integrity
  • We can be truthful to others and truthful to ourselves
  • Negative thinking can steal our ability to find peace
  • Moderation is about letting go of access and living within the limits of enough
  • Non-Possessiveness is the ability to fully experience something, and then let it go when the time is right

3rd Grade - Ethical Standards

As fourth-graders continue to build relationships and interactions with their peers and classmates, PeaceMindED curriculum encourages students to develop a sense of their own ethical standards that can be used as they navigate through their ever increasing social worlds.  This year of study focuses on;

  • The value of moderation, and an awareness of all of our actions with an attentiveness to each moment
  • The understanding of moderation when applied to how we approach our diets, relationships, schoolwork and extracurricular activities

5th Grade - Personal Responsibilities

Fifth-graders are hyper aware of social situations that can negatively affect their ability to self-regulate and focus.   This year of PeaceMindED curriculum explores the various ways that students can look within to calm racing and sometimes even anxious minds.  The year focuses on exploring how; 

  • Thoughts can influence how we are feeling
  • We can choose how we think, and what we think about
  • Contentment and peace can be practiced and learned
  • Practicing gratitude can influence our ability to find contentment in each moment
  • Self-Discipline can help us transform into the people that we want to be
  • Silence and reflection can help us better understand ourselves
